Sigh - me too. But sometimes I wonder: how else could it be? Even with all the religious disciplines and mortification we think we can use to flay our flesh into submission, still it remains that the best we can do is to go about our lives, waiting for him to speak into the thick of our days and melt our hearts with his kindness. Waiting, says Simone Weil, is the essential posture of the Christian life. We are incapable of taking a single step heavenward. But if we look upward long enough, if comes down, and lifts us up.
